Maresca decision clears path for Moyes to make final Grealish move

Fresh reports out of Manchester indicate that Jack Grealish is unlikely to feature in Enzo Maresca’s plans, and these have given Everton a clear signal to reignite negotiations for the 30-year-old.

While David Moyes and the recruitment team at Finch Farm have long maintained their interest following Grealish’s loan spell, City’s internal stance has always remained the key variable.

With sources close to the Etihad now indicating Maresca is planning without the winger, the dynamic shifts significantly in Everton’s favour…

Barrier removed: Maresca’s assessment eliminates any lingering threat of Grealish being reintegrated into City’s first-team picture or taken on their late pre-season setup.

Negotiating leverage: With City actively looking to clear Grealish from their squad depth before the deadline, Everton’s refusal to trigger the initial £50m buy-option from the loan deal looks increasingly vindicated.

Structuring the deal: The focus shifts entirely to cash and cash flow. City’s willingness to facilitate an exit leaves room for a heavily incentive-backed fee or a structured loan with an obligation, allowing Everton to bring him back without blowing their remaining summer budget.

With Grealish already fit – or at least nearly fit, judging by his training in Majorca – settled, and keen for the move, the green light from the Etihad leaves only the financial mechanics between the two boards standing in the way of a return to the Hill Dickinson.
