Report: Everton now seriously considering "outstanding" right-back loved by Cafu

Everton are seriously considering a move for Crystal Palace defender Daniel Munoz, following the signing of Brennan Johnson.

The Toffees got a deal for Johnson over the line on Tuesday, with the winger penning a four-year contract, and Dwight McNeil was sent in the opposite direction, bringing his four-year stay on Merseyside to an end.

However, strengthening the defence remains of key importance, with even new Prime Minister Andy Burnham bemoaning the fact a right-back is yet to arrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, following Seamus Coleman's departure.

Munoz could fit the bill, considering he has already built up a great deal of Premier League experience, picking up eight goals and 13 assists in 82 matches in the competition for the Eagles over the past three seasons.

The 30-year-old's success may be down to the work he puts in off the pitch, with former Palace manager Oliver Glasner saying: "Daniel has an outstanding training mentality. Every session he’s the guy running the most, sprinting the most. Every game, he plays with the most intensity. It’s the wish of every manager to have such a player."

The defender also "stuck out a lot" for Colombia at the World Cup, according to Cafu, and Munoz described it as an "honour" to receive high praise from the legendary Brazilian right-back.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Everton are now seriously considering a move for Munoz, with Palace prepared to cash-in on the full-back, should they receive a fee of around £25m.

Moyes is determined to bolster his options at right-back, but there could be competition for the 51-cap Colombia international's signature, as Nottingham Forest manager Glasner is keen on a reunion.

Should The Toffees miss out on the Palace star, they could turn their attentions to Genoa star Brooke Norton-Cuffy, and it was recently revealed that an offer for the Englishman could be submitted imminently.
