Arsenal have issued an unusual warning to supporters attending Arsenal vs Como on Wednesday evening, with a major partial solar eclipse set to take place shortly before kick-off at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side complete their pre-season programme against Como at 7.30pm, but supporters inside the stadium will have another spectacle to contend with before the football begins.
Arsenal have confirmed that the eclipse will be visible from the Emirates, with its peak in London expected at approximately 7.13pm, just 17 minutes before kick-off.
The club have therefore published specific safety guidance for supporters attending the game. Full advice can be found in Arsenal’s official eclipse guidance.

Arsenal have warned supporters not to look directly at the sun during the eclipse without appropriate eye protection.
Ordinary sunglasses are not sufficient, with specially designed eclipse glasses or safe indirect viewing methods required.
The timing makes Wednesday’s fixture particularly unusual. The eclipse will reach its maximum over London only minutes before Arsenal and Como emerge for the Gunners’ final friendly of the summer.
Supporters heading to north London can find the full Arsenal v Como TV information, kick-off time and how-to-watch details on ReadArsenal.
Bruno Guimaraes could make his Arsenal debut against Cesc Fabregas’ side after completing his £75million move from Newcastle United. The Brazilian has trained with his new teammates and is in contention for his first minutes before Sunday’s Community Shield against Manchester City.
Wednesday evening should therefore provide a memorable backdrop to Arsenal’s final pre-season test, although the club’s message to supporters is clear: enjoy the eclipse, but view it safely.
