The midfield picture at Liverpool for the new season is starting to take shape.
Andoni Iraola has inherited a group featuring Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones, with Florian Wirtz expected to operate as the number 10.

Mac Allister’s involvement in the World Cup final means he will have limited pre-season training. That has opened the door for others to make an early impression on the new head coach.
One of those is Trey Nyoni.
According to reports, Iraola has told the 19-year-old to stay and fight for a role at Anfield this season rather than leave on loan, giving him a chance to prove himself in central midfield.
But the head coach’s plans for his squad extend beyond the fringes of the first team.
Liverpool academy setup has also been busy, and one story involving a familiar surname has been developing in the background.
Journalist Bence Bocsak reported that Patrik Farkas started for Liverpool’s U21 side last weekend. The Hungarian midfielder was also spotted in the background of images the club released from the match.
Farkas has been training with Liverpool’s U21s throughout the summer. He is expected to join the club as a free agent.
His arrival would mark a return to Anfield. Bocsak reported earlier in the summer that Liverpool were in advanced talks to complete a move for the Hungary U19 international.
Patrik Farkas is not the only member of his family making waves at the club. His younger brother, Erik Farkas, scored twice for Liverpool’s U18 side last weekend, continuing his own progress through the academy ranks.
The two brothers were previously at Liverpool together before Patrik left the club. His expected return would reunite the siblings on Merseyside.
Should the move be finalised, it would add further depth to Liverpool’s academy midfield options.
