Munoz to Everton now just a Moyes decision, journalist claims
Everton’s move for Daniel Munoz has reportedly been reduced to a single obstacle: David Moyes making up his mind.
According to Alan Nixon, terms for a deal are not considered a problem, with a fee of around £20m enough to get a deal for the Crystal Palace right-back done.
What’s holding things up, in Nixon’s words, is Moyes needing to “commit to the Colombian” despite concerns he “may not fit snugly into his way of playing.”
That lines up with what we reported earlier today — Mark Douglas’s report of friction between Moyes and Everton’s recruitment operation specifically over Munoz’s profile.
The Daily Mail had also reported Moyes prefers a traditional right-back to a “prominent wing-back,” which is closer to how Munoz has played at Selhurst Park. Nixon’s update sharpens that picture considerably: this isn’t really a boardroom stand-off anymore, or a question of fee or terms.
It’s Moyes and Moyes alone standing between Munoz and the Hill Dickinson.
If accurate, it means the timeline on this one now rests entirely on the manager rather than the usual mechanics of a transfer.
Given how long Everton’s right-back search has already dragged on, that’s not necessarily a reassuring update for fans hoping this gets resolved quickly.
