Liverpool midfielder now expected to stay after impressing Andoni Iraola
Liverpool’s midfield is actually in a spot of bother, especially with reports linking Curtis Jones with a move to Inter Milan .
The likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister are the go-to options, but if Jones departs, their options look wafer-thin on paper.
Wataru Endo has also been linked with a Liverpool departure, while Stefan Bajcetic is yet to feature in pre-season despite being fully fit.
One player who can save them a lot of money in the future and make a massive impression this season is Trey Nyoni.
And The Athletic report that his performances have really impressed Andoni Iraola during pre-season.
Trey Nyoni set for Liverpool stay
The aforementioned report confirms that Liverpool rejected eight loan offers for Nyoni in the winter transfer window, which was a sign that they hold him in high regard.
He was expected to be loaned out this summer in search of regular game time.
However, after Iraola took a closer look at him in pre-season, he is now set to remain at Anfield and force his way into the first team.

When Arne Slot started giving him minutes towards the back end of last season, it was to the fans that Nyoni was being eased into the first team.
And now, after fielding multiple loan enquiries and delivering a string of strong displays in pre-season, it looks like he’s ready to storm through the first-team door for Liverpool.
