PSG "close to agreement" with "talks ongoing" as £145m Bradley Barcola breakthrough nears

**Liverpool are hoping to receive a major breakthrough on the Bradley Barcola deal soon, with PSG’s deal to sign Ferran Torres close to being completed.**

On Tuesday, Ben Jacobs reported that once the Torres transfer is done, it could be that PSG are more accepting of a Liverpool deal that includes a reduction on their £145m asking price.

Jacob reports: _“Liverpool could develop as well. So we’re at that stage of market where there’s a lot of indirectly linked transfers where a club like Liverpool are waiting and as soon as PSG are in a position where they’ve added and they need to subtract, maybe it’s a better chance to get Barcola done._

_“PSG are doubling down and sticking to €170m, hoping maybe another team like Arsenal comes forward, only to find that the window shuts and they’re stuck with a player that’s got only two years left on his contract. Liverpool are playing on that tactic waiting, being patient, and hoping that price drops.”_

Now, David Ornstein reports that Barcelona and PSG are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Torres.

The latest Ferran Torres news should be music to Liverpool’s ears amid Barcola pursuit

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reporting for [The Athletic](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7483364/2026/08/12/ferran-torres-psg-barcelona-transfer/), David Ornstein writes: _“Paris Saint-Germain are close to reaching an agreement for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres. The 26-year-old is not expected to resume training with Hansi Flick’s side as the two clubs look to finalise a deal, with discussions over a transfer fee ongoing._

_“Barcelona are open to selling the forward due to the fact that any renewal of his contract would require a payment of around €8millon (£6.8m; $9.2m) to be made to Manchester City, owing to a clause in the deal which saw him join Barca from City for an initial €55m plus a further €10m in add-ons in January 2022.”_

Liverpool will need to compromise with PSG on a transfer fee

------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to pay more than €120m on signing Barcola, while PSG won’t sell for less than €170m.

The way things look, at least from the outside, Liverpool are going to need to compromise with the Parisians at around the €145m mark, because even if Torres’ move to PSG means they need cash, it would be quite surprising to see them make a €50m (£45m) concession for Barcola.
