A former Seattle Seahawk is sticking around the area — and the game.
A little over four years after running back Chris Carson announced his retirement due to a neck injury suffered during the 2021 season, he has joined the staff of Redmond High School’s football team, the Mustangs, as running backs coach.
The school announced the high-profile addition to their staff on Instagram (with [a hat tip to Field Gulls reader Bubba for posting this in The Feed](/post/vxUOAcDTkOyh)).
Despite entering the league as a seventh-round pick, following the 2017 NFL Draft, Carson immediately brought excitement into what was then a middling running back room. By Week 2 of his rookie season, Carson had taken the reigns in a 20-carry, 93-yard showing against the 49ers, but his season ended after four games due to a broken ankle.
Carson rebounded as a sophomore, putting together the first in what was back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. Across 49 career games with Seattle, Carson rushed for 3,502 yards and 24 touchdowns, with another 804 yards and seven scores through the air.
Now, as a member of Redmond’s coaching staff, Carson joins a long line of Pete Carroll-era Seahawks to stick around the area in retirement.
