Iliman Ndiaye has reportedly turned down an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, with the Everton and Senegal winger preferring to remain in the Premier League.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ndiaye’s preference is to continue playing in England **for a club competing in the Champions League**.
And that immediately raises an interesting question for Liverpool supporters:
**Could Ndiaye be an option for Anfield?**
The most interesting part of this report isn’t necessarily that Ndiaye rejected Al-Hilal.
It’s **what he wants instead**.
The Senegal international reportedly wants to remain in the Premier League and play Champions League football.
There aren’t many clubs who can offer him that combination.
Liverpool certainly can.
And with Andoni Iraola building an exciting new-look attack at Anfield, Ndiaye could potentially be an intriguing option.
Ndiaye is a versatile attacking player who can operate from the wing or through the middle.
He’s technically gifted, quick and capable of carrying the ball at defenders.
That versatility could be particularly useful for Iraola.
Liverpool’s attacking options are already exciting, with Alexander Isak leading the line, Florian Wirtz operating in the creative areas and players such as Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha providing options out wide.
Adding Ndiaye would give Iraola another player capable of changing games.
This is where I think the idea becomes particularly interesting.
Iraola wants Liverpool to play with intensity, aggression and speed.
Ndiaye is at his best when he can receive the ball and attack space.
He isn’t simply a player who wants to stay out wide and wait for the ball.
He wants to get involved.
He can drift inside, combine with teammates and carry possession forward.
Those qualities could make him an interesting option in Iraola’s system.
This is the biggest question.
Liverpool already have an enormous amount of attacking talent.
If the Reds can complete their reported pursuit of Bradley Barcola, Iraola could have Barcola, Wirtz, Isak, Gakpo, Chiesa and Ngumoha competing for attacking positions.
That’s an incredible amount of quality.
So signing Ndiaye would arguably be about **adding another versatile option rather than filling an obvious weakness**.
And Liverpool still have other areas of the squad that arguably require greater attention.
If Ndiaye’s priority really is staying in the Premier League and playing Champions League football, Liverpool would surely be one of the most attractive destinations available.
But wanting Champions League football doesn’t automatically mean wanting Liverpool.
There would need to be genuine interest from the Reds, an agreement with Everton and, of course, a willingness from Ndiaye to make the move.
And then there is the obvious factor:
**Everton and Liverpool.**
A move directly from the **Hill Dickinson Stadium to Anfield** would be one of the most controversial transfers imaginable on Merseyside.
It would certainly get people talking.
There is something quite exciting about the possibility.
**Wirtz creating.**
**Isak finishing.**
**Ndiaye running at defenders.**
**Barcola providing explosive pace.**
**Ngumoha developing into a potential star.**
**Gakpo and Chiesa offering experience and quality.**
Iraola could have an incredibly versatile attack at his disposal.
Ndiaye’s ability to play across the frontline would give the manager another tactical option and could be particularly useful during a long Champions League and Premier League campaign.
It’s important to stress that **there is currently no indication that Liverpool have made a move for Ndiaye**.
This is purely a question of whether his reported preference could make him an interesting player for the Reds.
Liverpool would also have to consider whether they want to do business with Everton and whether the player represents good value.
But the fact that Ndiaye reportedly wants to stay in the Premier League and play Champions League football certainly makes his situation worth watching.
It might seem unlikely.
But football produces surprises all the time.
If Ndiaye is determined to play Champions League football in England, Liverpool could potentially offer exactly what he’s looking for.
Whether Liverpool actually want him is another question entirely.
But imagine seeing **Iliman Ndiaye walk out at Anfield in a Liverpool shirt after previously playing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.**
That would certainly be some story.
