Curtis Jones is now set to leave Liverpool after over two months of uncertainty, making him one of the most costly side effects of the Arne Slot era.
The Scouser spoke after the 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in November, following which he struggled to break into the Liverpool side.
“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. It’s just unacceptable,” Jones told RTE. “I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.
“We’re going to try and get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world but right now, we’re in the s— and it needs to change.”
Despite Slot being sacked, Liverpool are now on the verge of selling Jones to Inter Milan as a key transfer domino falls to make the move possible.
Inter Milan set for midfield sale that will free space and funds for Jones transfer
Fabrizio Romano reports that until Davide Frattesi leaves Inter, they cannot sign Jones.
Romano says: “Inter mantain Curtis Jones as priority target since May and now feel deal could happen with Liverpool at €35m fee. There’s still no green light to new bid until Davide Frattesi’s exit but Inter definitely will try again for Curtis before the window ends.”

Crucially, Frattesi is now on the verge of leaving Inter to join Lazio, which should set the necessary pieces on the board in motion.
It’s a shame to see Jones go, but he will do very well in Italy
Just like Djed Spence – who is also on the verge of joining Inter Milan – Jones will shine in Serie A. The Italian game is more technical and less physical, which more than suits the style of play that Jones excels at.
It’s a shame to see him leave. Not only is he the only senior Scouser at Liverpool at the moment, but he is a very good player even if he doesn’t get the credit he often deserves.
That said, players that want to leave Liverpool have almost always been allowed to. If he wants to go, he will be allowed to and there will be no hard feelings either.
