Manchester City Re-signs Rulli on Contract Until 2028

Follow-up – INA

Manchester City have finalized the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli from Olympique Marseille, bringing him back to the club on a contract extending until the summer of 2028.

Rulli's return to the Etihad Stadium is particularly significant, as the 34-year-old previously joined City in 2016 but never made a first-team appearance.

Rulli boasts an impressive record in European football, having played for several prominent clubs, including Real Sociedad, Montpellier, Villarreal, Ajax, and Marseille, in addition to representing Argentina internationally.

The goalkeeper was one of Villarreal's key players during their Europa League triumph in the 2020-21 season, playing a pivotal role in the final against Manchester United, which was decided by penalties. Rulli successfully converted his penalty and saved David de Gea's decisive spot-kick.

At the international level, Rulli has made eight appearances for Argentina and was part of the squads that won the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América.

This signing is part of Manchester City's efforts to strengthen their goalkeeping position. Rulli will provide experienced cover behind first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, following James Trafford's departure to Leeds United.
