Super agent Jorge Mendes in talks with PSG to finalise deal

Liverpool’s move for Bradley Barcola remains one of the summer’s most closely watched sagas.

DaveOCKOP.com reported last week that the Reds have already agreed a deal in principle with Paris Saint-Germain for the 23-year-old, with the fee sitting in the region of €128m.

That report claimed personal terms are not an issue. PSG had previously valued Barcola at around €170m before the two sides found middle ground.

While Anfield waits on that deal to be confirmed, PSG are working on multiple fronts to reshape their attack. Goncalo Ramos, Lee Kang-In and Randal Kolo Muani have all left the club permanently this summer, and Ligue 1’s champions are moving to fill the gaps.

One of those targets has nothing to do with Liverpool, but everything to do with the man driving Barcola’s departure from Paris.

According to Dutch outlet VoetbalPrimeur, super agent Jorge Mendes is now in direct talks with PSG over a transfer for Ajax winger Mika Godts.

“Top agent Jorge Mendes is currently holding talks with PSG regarding the transfer of Godts. The agent offered his services to Ajax months ago, and the club is eager to make use of them. Mendes works on a no-cure-no-pay basis and is only paid by the Amsterdam club if he secures the asking price. Ajax is reportedly aiming for sixty to sixty-five million euros.”

PSG have so far made just one formal offer, worth €40m plus €5m in bonuses, which technical director Jordi Cruijff did not consider serious enough to negotiate over.

Godts has been strongly linked with PSG for weeks. He was expected to start against PEC Zwolle last weekend but withdrew from the XI at the last minute due to a minor issue, before coming on as a substitute in the second half.

For Liverpool, the situation adds another layer to their pursuit of Barcola.

PSG’s push to complete deals for Godts and Ferran Torres quickly suggests the club is preparing for a summer in which several attacking pieces could move at once.

With Barcola’s future potentially tied to the arrivals of Godts and Torres, Liverpool will be hoping Mendes can use his influence to help complete the deal as soon as possible.
