Liverpool are reportedly pushing hard in their efforts to sign Mexico midfielder Gilberto Mora, while Curtis Jones‘ asking price has been lowered.
Liverpool make approach for Gilberto Mora
According to a report from 24 Horas, the Reds have made an approach for Mora, having been linked with him earlier this summer.
But the transfer would only happen in the January transfer window, due to the highly-rated midfielder not turning 18 until October.
Liverpool are far from alone in being in contact over Mora, however, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona all name-checked, too.
That said, no formal offer for the 17-year-old has been tabled yet.
Mora’s stock rose at the 2026 World Cup, where he started three matches and stood out as arguably one of the best youngsters in the tournament.
He would be a long-term acquisition by Liverpool, rather than a quick fix, but his potential is great and a January move would be a major coup.

Trey Nyoni‘s squad status at Liverpool appears to have changed, especially if Jones ends up leaving the club:
“Iraola has ‘already made it clear that he wants him to stick around’ and Nyoni is now in line for a more prominent role at Liverpool.
“This shift in stance over the former Leicester youngster comes at a time when Curtis Jones appears to be heading for the exit, with a €35 million (£29.9m) move to Inter Milan considered likely.
“Nyoni will undoubtedly benefit if Jones departs, with the Scouser having made 49 appearances last season and 28 starts as the alternate to an established first-choice trio of Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.
“Mac Allister is only now catching up on pre-season work after reaching the World Cup final with Argentina, while Wataru Endo was needed to fill in at centre-back on his return from a long-term injury in Sunday’s friendly against Monaco.”
