The New York Giants are currently gearing up for the upcoming 2026 NFL preseason, which is slated to get underway later this week. The Giants have had quite a busy offseason, including bringing in new faces like head coach John Harbaugh, as well as familiar ones like wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
On Wednesday, the team released its first official depth chart for the upcoming campaign, and it wasn't exactly a great sign for Beckham Jr.
On the chart, Beckham Jr. is listed as third string, along with multiple other players.
Josh Alper of NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk weighed in on what this might mean for Beckham Jr.'s future in New York.
“Reports from camp last week had Beckham, who did not play at all in 2025, getting reps with the first team, but it will be hard for a player who doesn’t play on special teams to make the cut from his current spot on the depth chart,” reported Alper.
Ahead of Beckham Jr. are Malik Nabers, Calvin Austin, Darnell Mooney, and Jalin Hyatt, while Isaiah Hodgins, Dalen Cambre, and Malachi Fields are on the same rung as him.
Beckham Jr. was an electric player for the Giants during the prime years of his career in the 2010s, quickly becoming one of the most popular stars in the NFL and producing highlight reel-worthy plays seemingly every week.
The veteran has managed to stick around in the league for the last several years since then, although he did not play in the NFL last year, and it remains to be seen how much he has left in the tank.
Clearly, he will have to work to earn his way onto the finalized roster before the season begins.
