Liverpool has just two friendlies remaining this summer - both against the Italian side Como at Anfield on Sunday — with Andoni Iraola set for a big couple of weeks on the training field.
Still with some work to do in the transfer market, the Spaniard now has a full roster of players available to work with, aside from those who are out injured, with Alexis Mac Allister having returned from his post-World Cup holiday.
The Reds will travel to Newcastle on the opening day of the 2026/27 season and that game at St James' Park is now only 11 days away. This is what we spotted in the latest session.
Ronald Araujo features
New Liverpool center-back Ronald Araujo was present in the session having arrived from Barcelona earlier this week. He has been in the Catalan side's pre-season, so he arrives with a good level of sharpness.
Araujo should make his unofficial debut for Liverpool in one of the two games against Como, most likely alongside Virgil van Dijk. He might then start the new Premier League season a week later.
The Uruguayan is still getting used to his new surroundings but Araujo is an experienced head. He should be able to slot in fairly quickly, which is ideal for Andoni Iraola.
Jeremy Jacquet back
Another defender to feature was Jeremy Jacquet, who is yet to play in any pre-season games, and he appeared to take part in the session on the grass here.
Iraola said last weekend that the Frenchman could play against Como, and that is surely the aim. He was said to be close to a comeback during the US tour.
Sadly, Giovanni Leoni and Stefan Bajcetic, who were watching the session on exercise bikes at the side, are among those who are still yet to make a return. They may still be another few weeks away.
Curtis Jones returns
Having missed the Anfield defeat to AS Monaco with a minor issue, Curtis Jones was back involved here. He could feature at the weekend as a result.
Still of interest to Inter Milan, but with the Serie A giant yet to table an acceptable offer for the 25-year-old, Iraola has already made clear that he wants the midfielder to stay. His contract expires next summer, however.
With the clock ticking, Liverpool still has things to fix. The same, though, can be said of almost every Premier League team, with others like Manchester City having changed managers too.
Iraola will have to make the most of the full weeks available to him in the early weeks of the season, with two fixtures a week starting after the first international break.
