**Liverpool and PSG remain locked in negotiations over a deal to sign Bradley Barcola this summer, but the player is adamant he wants to leave.**
While you cannot blame Luis Enrique for his decision to start Kvicha Kvaratskhelia over Bradley Barcola, you can equally understand why Barcola is seeking a move away from the Parc des Princes in search of regular football.
Liverpool are trying to exploit this desire for a more involved role in an elite team’s ambitions; however, convincing PSG to accept a lower fee is proving very difficult for the Reds.
When Barcola made his decision on PSG future at PSG
---------------------------------------------------
[TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/full-truths-bradley-barcola-liverpool-revealed-claims-psg-deal-off-exclusive) correspondent Graeme Bailey reports that Barcola made his decision to leave PSG long before the Champions League final, although his lack of involvement in the final against Arsenal was the final nail in the coffin of his relationship with PSG, so to speak.
Bailey writes: _“Barcola’s decision to leave was effectively finalised last season after his limited involvement during PSG’s Champions League defence._
_“TEAMtalk understands his frustration was particularly heightened by the semi-final against Bayern Munich, when he played less than 30 minutes in each leg._
_“In the final against Arsenal, Barcola was introduced with only seven minutes of normal time remaining before PSG went on to lift the trophy via penalties._
_“That convinced Barcola that he was not yet regarded as a first-choice player by Luis Enrique and prompted him to make clear that he wanted to move on.”_
Barcola wants Anfield move
--------------------------
Bailey added: _“A move to Liverpool and Anfield holds huge appeal to Barcola. Sources tell us his representatives have already held talks with the club and personal terms are not considered an issue should the two sides reach an agreement with PSG.”_
However, the issue remains that PSG want £145m for Barcola, and Liverpool are only willing to pay around £103m.
[Reports have indicated that the Parisians will lower their asking price after they sign Ferran Torres](https://live4liverpool.com/ben-jacobs-reveals-liverpools-plan-to-complete-bradley-barcola-signing-which-is-dragging-along/), but only time will prove whether this is true or not.
Biggest indicator that Liverpool will get their man
---------------------------------------------------
The only real evidence that Liverpool will get their chance to sign Barcola is that they have not walked away.
Liverpool, while slow to make signings this summer, are known for their ruthless negotiating. If they don’t see a signing as being possible, they walk away.
However, they remain at the table. This tells me that they believe PSG will agree to a compromise on their £145m asking price, but time is running out.
It’s a good thing that the club has people involved with sharper nerves than me or the average fan, because it’s getting to the stage of the summer where mistakes are punished.
That said, the Marc Guehi fiasco last summer – where Liverpool left signing the Englishman until very late and Crystal Palace pulled the rug out from under them on Deadline Day – remains fresh in the mind.
