FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that young winger Roony Bardghji has undergone successful surgery on his right knee after rupturing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) earlier in the week.

“First-team player Roony Bardghji has undergone successful surgical intervention for the tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee,” the club statement read.

“The procedure was carried out at the Hospital de Barcelona and was overseen by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services.”

Bardghji, who seemed destined for a departure from Barça this summer, suffered the serious knee injury during pre-season training earlier this week.

The Swedish international left the training pitch in tears after the injury, giving way to major concerns and subsequent tests confirmed the worst.

With the surgery now complete, Bardghji is expected to be sidelined for at least seven months, given the nature and severity of his injury.

As such, any possibility of a departure this summer or even in the January transfer window of 2027 is now completely ruled out.

The winger, who has now suffered a second ACL injury in his young career, will start his recovery and rehabilitation programme under the club’s guidance.
