Hull City have less than three weeks to complete their summer transfer business as Sergej Jakirovic’s side prepare for their first Premier League season in a decade.
The Tigers secured promotion by beating Middlesbrough in last season’s Championship play-off final and have already signed eight players this summer.

Jack Butland, Matt Targett, Oscar Zambrano, Hidemasa Morita, Konstantinos Tzolakis, Jens Hjertø-Dahl, Elliot Stroud and Rayo Vallecano defender Nobel Mendy have all arrived at the MKM Stadium.
However, Hull are expected to remain active and reportedly want to add at least five more players before the September 1 deadline.
Australia international Lucas Herrington, who was scouted by Liverpool during the season, is among their latest additions. The Reds did not follow up their interest with an offer, and Hull have officially announced the signing of Herrington from MLS side Colorado Rapids for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Tigers, becoming their ninth summer arrival. Herrington became the youngest player to start a World Cup match for Australia when he featured in their goalless group-stage draw with Paraguay. He also started their round-of-32 clash with Egypt, earning his sixth cap.
The centre-back made his senior debut for hometown club Brisbane Roar in December 2024, aged 17, after coming through the academy. He made 29 appearances for the club, scoring against Sydney FC and Newcastle United Jets.
Herrington moved to MLS side Colorado Rapids ahead of the 2026 season and helped them keep six clean sheets in 20 appearances. He also scored on his home debut in a 2-0 win over Portland Timbers.
His performances earned him a place in the 2026 MLS All-Star squad, where he started in a 4-3 win over the Liga MX All-Stars.
Before making his senior international debut, Herrington helped Australia win the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup in 2025 and claimed bronze at the 2024 ASEAN Under-19 Boys Championship.
Lucas Herrington said: “I’m buzzing to be here. It’s a great project and a great club to be a part of. I’m so excited to be here.
“The opportunity to play in the Premier League, one of the best leagues in the world, is a dream come true. I’ve woken up at all hours in the morning in Australia to watch these games.
“To be a part of it is so special. To hear from the club and coaching staff has been so exciting for me. I can’t wait to meet all the boys and the fans.
“I’m here to work hard and hopefully get a lot of games in the Premier League. I spoke to ‘Jacko’ (Jackson Irvine), and he said very good things about the club and the area. He loved his time here. To hear that from him, after being with him at the World Cup, gave me a sense of calmness.
“It was a dream come true to represent my country at the World Cup – something I had always wanted to do. To achieve it at 18 was so special and to have my family in the stands meant everything to me. I’m really looking forward to the first game against Manchester United. I can’t wait to get started.”
