Joao Pedro set to sign bumper new Chelsea deal to warn off Barcelona

**Joao Pedro is closing in on signing a new Chelsea contract until 2033 after the Blues moved to secure his future following transfer interest from Barcelona.**

The Brazilian has established himself as one of Chelsea’s most important attacking players since arriving from Brighton and has now been rewarded with improved terms at Stamford Bridge.

According to [**ESPN Brazil**](https://www.espn.com.br/futebol/mercado-da-bola/artigo/_/id/17109596/apos-flerte-barcelona-joao-pedro-conclui-renovacao-2033-chelsea), everything has been agreed between Chelsea and Pedro, with the forward now in possession of the paperwork required to complete the renewal.

The agreement will extend his existing deal by another year to 2033.

Chelsea’s move follows significant interest in Pedro during the summer transfer window.

Barcelona had been exploring a possible deal for the forward, while Arsenal were also linked with a move earlier this month. Reports at the start of August claimed Chelsea had no intention of considering a sale and instead accelerated talks over improved terms.

ReadChelsea previously reported how [**Pedro remained happy at Chelsea despite Barcelona’s interest**](https://readchelsea.com/2026/05/15/joao-pedro-stance-chelsea-barca-agents/) after the Spanish club were linked with discussions involving his representatives.

Chelsea’s position has now become even clearer.

Pedro is regarded as an important part of Xabi Alonso’s plans and the Blues have opted to strengthen his contract rather than entertain approaches for one of their leading attackers.

His new agreement is also expected to include improved wages following an impressive first season at Stamford Bridge. Earlier reporting from Brazil claimed Barcelona and Arsenal had both indicated they could consider offers above €100million, but Chelsea treated Pedro as unavailable.

With the terms now settled, the final signature appears to be the remaining step before Chelsea can formally confirm another major contract decision.
