Mikel Arteta has made clear Arsenal are not finished in the transfer market, insisting the Premier League champions still want to add more “skill and quality” to their squad.
The Arsenal manager was speaking after Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Como at the Emirates, which ended with the Gunners winning a pre-arranged penalty shootout 4-3.
Arsenal have already strengthened significantly this summer, with £75million midfielder Bruno Guimaraes among the headline additions.
But Arteta has now delivered his clearest indication yet that further business is being actively pursued.

Speaking about Arsenal’s plans before the transfer window closes, Arteta said there is still more the club wants to do.
“There is more we want to do. We need to bring more skill and quality to the squad. We are actively trying to do it.”
He added that Arsenal cannot guarantee another signing because any deal depends on more than the club alone.
AFC Xtra also carried Arteta’s latest transfer comments, with the Spaniard stressing Arsenal “want to try to do something” before the market closes.
The comments build on Arteta’s message after Sunday’s defeat against Borussia Dortmund.
ReadArsenal reported after that game that Arteta had confirmed Arsenal were still trying to strengthen, but his latest remarks go further by specifically highlighting the need for additional skill and quality.
Arsenal continue to be linked with attacking and defensive reinforcements as the final weeks of the window approach.
The immediate focus now turns towards Sunday’s Community Shield meeting with Manchester City, but Arteta’s message after Como suggests the squad that starts the competitive campaign may not be the one that finishes the summer.
