The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the middle of Training Camp under new head coach Mike McCarthy, who replaced the iconic Mike Tomlin during the offseason. The Steelers hope that McCarthy, who has a Super Bowl victory on his resume, can help lead them back to the promised land.
It's a mountaintop that longtime Steelers linebacker TJ Watt wants to reach before he inevitably retires from the NFL, as he's yet to win the Super Bowl, much less appear in one.
“We wanna play our best football as the season goes on and try to find ways to stay fresh and healthy down the road,” Watt said via The Deebo and Joe podcast on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I have not won a freaking playoff game in my whole career. Sitting up here next to guys like you, Deebo, that's just unacceptable. Yeah, that needs to change, and I sound like just a broken record, but that's what it is.”

“Isn't that crazy? Yeah, the farthest I have ever made it in the playoffs was when we lost to Jacksonville, when we had that first-round bye,” Watt said. “That's something, as a Pittsburgh Steeler for 10 years, man. You look back at your legacy as a team and what you accomplished. I think that's a box that's left unchecked right now.”
So far in his career, Watt, whom the Steelers selected in the first round (30th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, has earned eight Pro Bowl nods and is a four-time NFL First-Team All-Pro. He was also the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year for the 2021 season.
