Badiashile Chelsea Exit has reached a decisive stage, with Napoli pushing to complete a loan for the 25-year-old Chelsea centre-back after he reportedly rejected another Premier League option to prioritise Serie A. Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli and Chelsea have agreed a €3 million loan, but the purchase clause still needs settling. Chelsea first sought a €15 million obligation, then changed course and raised the option to €18-20 million.
Napoli’s urgency is clear. Alessandro Buongiorno faces a lengthy absence after knee surgery, while Sam Beukema and Luca Marianucci have fitness issues, leaving Massimiliano Allegri short of senior centre-backs.
For Napoli, the deal makes sporting sense because Badiashile offers a left-footed central defender with size, passing quality and experience at the highest level. Yet the €18-20 million option deserves scrutiny. He made only eight Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season, totalling 472 minutes, while broader reporting records 16 competitive appearances across the campaign. That limited workload makes an obligation risky for Napoli.
Chelsea have good reason to resist a cheap permanent exit. They paid Monaco about €38 million in January 2023, and Chelsea keep Badiashile under contract until June 2030. His reported £90,000 weekly wage strengthens the case for moving him on.
I think Chelsea’s stance is sensible, even if the valuation looks ambitious. A €15 million obligation would leave a sizeable gap against the original investment, while a €18-20 million option gives Napoli protection if Badiashile struggles again. Chelsea should accept that his injury record and limited minutes weaken their bargaining position.
The unnamed Premier League interest matters. If Badiashile has genuinely rejected another English route, Napoli can offer something Chelsea cannot right now: a clear route into regular football under Allegri. His 95% passing figure supports the argument that his profile can work in possession-heavy build-up.
Chelsea can point to his age, France pedigree and left-footed profile, while Napoli can point to limited availability and the need to test his fitness over a season.

For Chelsea, a €3 million loan plus an €18-20 million option would be a reasonable compromise. Napoli get time to judge him, while Chelsea protect resale value and shed a £90,000-a-week contract. I read the issue as final bargaining rather than a fundamental breakdown, and Allegri’s wish to have him training after Ferragosto adds pressure.
