CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Jim Schwartz knew Myles Garrett was great. It was the rest of the defense he saw potential in when he took the Browns defensive coordinator job in 2023.
Schwartz talked about his start in Cleveland recently on [the “Paganetti & Underhill” show on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OXvfXUVynE).
He also said the Browns were “challenged offensively” at times during his tenure, which affected his play-calling.
Cleveland finished first in total defense in 2023 and fourth in 2025.
Garrett also won two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards under Schwartz, who was Browns DC for 3 seasons.
