United’s main priority is signing a new left-back but Newcastle aren’t willing to sell their main target Lewis Hall. Michael Carrick’s side could also strengthen in midfield and upfront.

Arsenal want to bring in Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa before the deadline and continue to look at alternative options after failing to convince Vinicius Jr to leave Real Madrid.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are working on a deal to sign PSG winger Bradley Barcola but aren’t willing to match the French club’s £145m asking price.

Arsenal to return for Konsa

Arsenal have reignited their interest in Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa.

BBC Sport reports that the Gunners are ready to return for the 28-year-old, having held exploratory talks with Villa earlier in the window.

Arsenal previously wanted to pay around £30m for Konsa, who is still on holiday after the World Cup, while Villa believe £60m is a fair price.

The Premier League champions accept they will need to up their bid significantly to have any hope of completing a deal.

Ferdinand gives Rashford verdict

Rio Ferdinand reckons Marcus Rashford will be 'like a new signing' for Manchester United after making his return to the club.

The England forward is back at Carrington after Barcelona opted against making his stay permanent and Ferdinand told his YouTube channel: “Rashford is back at Manchester United at the training ground and guys, he’s like a purring Ferrari, man.

“He looks fit, he looks ready. And you know what, there’s a smile on his face and there’s a little spring in his step.

“We don’t know which way this is going to go and how it’s going to pan out by the end of this transfer window. But you know what, I hope he stays, and he will be like a new signing at the football club.

“And could this be the motivated Marcus Rashford to come out and prove all the doubters and all the people wrong? And all the naysayers.

“I hope it is. Let’s watch this space.”

Chelsea set Fernandez deadline

Chelsea have given clubs a deadline to pay £120 million if they wish to sign Enzo Fernandez before the end of the transfer window. Manchester City have been strongly linked with an interest in the midfielder.

Our sister title football.london reports that the Blues have set a deadline of Friday at 5pm for City, or any other interested clubs to pay the £120 million price tag they have put on his head.

Page wants United move

Leicester City prospect Louis Page is favouring a move to Manchester United over Arsenal. The teenager has been viewed as a potential third midfield addition for this season.

The 18-year-old is also being pursued by the Gunners. However, it's understood by the Athletic he favours a move to Old Trafford over the Emirates Stadium, with United actively working on the deal.

It's also been claimed United view him in the same light as Ayden Heaven, who was immediately placed into the first team last season.

PSG chairman gives Barcola update

PSG chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi admitted there is a chance that Bradley Barcola leaves the club before the window shuts.

Liverpool are trying to do a deal with the Ligue 1 champions to sign the France winger, while Arsenal are also keeping tabs on his situation.

Barcola didn't feature in PSG's UEFA Super Cup victory against Aston Villa on Wednesday night and Al Khelaifi told Canal Plus: “We’re working calmly, we don’t talk too much, we do. I can’t say whether he will leave or not. Today, he is a PSG player. We’ll see!"
