Barcelona are poised for a busy end to the summer transfer window, both in terms of signings and departures. The club wants at least three new additions, but there is also scope for many more exits, given that head coach Hansi Flick has ruled that several players are not in his plans for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The likes of Marc Casado and Hector Fort have been informed that they should seek an exit before the transfer window closes, and another player not counted on by Flick is Tommy Marques. The 19-year-old was a regular member of the first team squad last season, but with Rodri poised to join from Manchester City, there would be no chance of any playing time, which is why an exit would be in his best interest.
A number of clubs are attentive to Marques’ situation, including Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund. But it is Braga that are most interested in signing him, and as per Jijantes FC, he has already received a contract offer from the Portuguese side.
Club-to-club talks also taking place
Barcelona are aware that Marques has an offer from Braga, and they have also held talks with a view to a possible agreement coming soon. The Catalans are keen to move the teenager on, although they will seek to include a significant sell-on clause and/or buy-back option, as they seek to retain control over his future.
It makes sense for Marques to leave in search for regular minutes. He has shown promise whenever he has featured for the Barcelona first team, and given that he is too good to play for Barca Atletic in the fourth tier of Spanish football, he must depart so as to continue developing as a player – and he could meet a familiar face in Pau Victor, who signed for Braga last summer.
