It's a big season ahead for Everton. Will David Moyes' side challenge for Europe again?

At the time of writing, we are just over a week away from the start of the 2026/27 Premier League season. No, I am not going to talk about the lack of a right-back- well, not today anyway! Today, I am going to talk about how I believe Everton’s season is going to pan out, with the squad we have as it stands!
League Position
Everton have finished 13th in the last two seasons. The first 13th-place finish was seen as a miracle, I would say the same, to be honest. Last season’s 13th-place finish was an absolute disaster, having been in the top half of the league for more than half the season. It is clear as day that Everton need reinforcements. Gun to the head, I would say Everton will finish 11th.
FA CUP and EFL CUP
Everton need to take these competitions seriously, end of discussion. 3rd-round exits in both cups last year are unforgivable to be honest.
1995 anyone? It is the luck of the draw no doubt but as a prediction, I will say the quarters of the EFL Cup and the fifth Round of the FA Cup. I hope I am very wrong.
Player of the Season
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall seems to be the player we look to to make things happen. All our wins seem to have come when KDH was on form, especially when he was playing in the ‘8’ position.
If he can replicate his form from last season, he is an absolute no-brainer for player of the season, and I think he will. Jordan Pickford will, of course, be a close second.
One to Watch
I was originally going to go with ‘surprise of the season’. One to watch seems a bit more appropriate. I will be going for (and praying for) Tyler Dibling.
REUTERS
Tyler has been at the forefront of most of the pre-season games, so it shows that Moyes sees something, and let’s face it, he can’t play any less than he did last season. When Dibling is on it (see Southampton Dibling), he is on it and can be a handful.
Signing of the Season
Yes, this could change (and hopefully will) over the course of the season. As it stands, I would say Christian Norgaard will be the signing of the season. Norgaard for £7m seems like an absolute no-brainer.
Very well respected among Brentford and Arsenal players and fans alike. He seems to be the replacement for Gana-Gueye which I have no problem with short-term; long-term, it remains to be seen. Norgaard will be bringing some much-needed experience into the midfield, and I am looking forward to seeing it how it works.
Manager
I can’t do a prediction of the season without including Mr David Moyes. The feeling around the club is that with Moyes’ contract being up at the end of the season, this will be David Moyes last season as manager of Everton.
Moyes needs to learn from silly mistakes he made last season. The in-game management needs to change, and the subs need to be better and more effective. Moyes has a game-winner in him, he just needs to find it. If I was going to make a prediction, however, I can not see Moyes being Everton’s manager come 2027.
