'I hope we will sign him' - Hull City manager confirms interest in Everton midfielder Iroegbunam
Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has provided an update on the club’s interest in Nigeria-eligible midfielder Tim Iroegbunam ahead of the start of the 2026/2027 campaign.
Iroegbunam has been linked with a move to the Tigers during the current summer window following a decent campaign with Everton last season.
The 23-year-old midfielder featured in 29 Premier League matches, providing three assists as he continued to establish himself at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Jakirovic expressed his admiration for the midfielder and revealed his hope that Hull City can complete a deal for his services.
"I think there is progress in this player,"Jakirovic said via Hull Daily Mail. "I like how he is playing and he is very experienced. I think we need this profile for a midfielder and I hope we will sign him.”
The Tigers manager believes the club are in a strong position to secure the deal due to the young midfielder’s current contract situation.
\"But, we will see. It could be a loan or permanent transfer. There is a lot of exchanging. He is in the last year of his contract which is an advantage for us,” he added.
With the new campaign approaching, Iroegbunam will be keen to resolve his future and rediscover his best form.
A move to Hull City would provide the midfielder with an opportunity to play a prominent role as the Tigers look to strengthen their squad and compete successfully in the new season.
