Everton target Héctor Fort is destined to leave Barcelona this summer and is keen on a move to the Premier League.
Mundo Deportivo report that all signs currently point towards the 20-year-old leaving the Camp Nou before the end of the summer.
Barcelona exit pending
Sport Witness covered a report today stating that Everton had been pushed ahead of Fulham and Liverpool for the right-back this summer. Their summer search for a right-back is ongoing.
Mundo now report that Barcelona value the defender at €15-20m. Héctor Fort is reportedly keen on the Premier League, as it will offer the ‘greatest financial potential’ and sporting appeal.
He has come to terms with the fact that his future lies away from Barcelona. He accepts that is not in Hansi Flick’s immediate plans. As a result, the Catalan club are now working with his agent to find the best way to finalise a deal.
Neither party sees a loan move as the preferred option. The aim is for Fort to leave Barcelona permanently.
Barcelona, though, want to safeguard their interests for the future.
Future clause included
Depending on who signs him – Everton, Fulham, Liverpool or anyone else – they would prefer to retain a ‘significant percentage of the player’s rights’ or include a buy-back clause.
There are no concrete offers on the table as yet. The requirement for a permanent transfer has pushed La Liga clubs out of the picture for now. The Premier League is instead seen as the ‘ideal destination’.
Clubs there have the greatest financial capacity to handle a deal of this nature. The player is open to the idea of a move to England as well. Consequently, his future looks increasingly destined for the Premier League.
Whether that’s at Everton, remains to be seen. The opportunity is undeniably there, with Fort and Barcelona exploring a deal. Indeed, they’re actively pushing to make it happen.
