Barcelona want to send 20-year-old Hector Fort on loan for the 2026/27 season, and Liverpool are one of the clubs said to rate the young right-back highly.
Having already reached a loan agreement with the Blaugrana for Ronald Araujo, Liverpool could seek to use that relationship to reach another, but this time for Fort.
Spanish outlet SPORT reports that Hansi Flick likes Fort but will once again send him on loan after he spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan with La Liga outfit Elche, where he played just 14 times. A shoulder injury kept him on the sidelines for 114 days, missing 15 games.
Now, in dire need of game time, Barcelona are considering proposals to send him on loan once more.
Liverpool one of several clubs interested in Hector Fort
According to the report from SPORT, penned by journalist German Bona, Fort has accepted that he will not spend this season with Barcelona.
The report states: “Héctor Fort has accepted his departure from FC Barcelona. Pre-season hasn’t changed Hansi Flick’s plans for the academy graduate, despite the full-back’s hopes of a change in his situation.
“The 20-year-old Fort’s future this season will once again lie away from the Catalan club, but he won’t be lacking offers. His situation has sparked a flurry of interest from clubs, some of them quite powerful, who are keen to reach an agreement as soon as possible. For both Barcelona and the player, it’s also important that the departure is resolved as soon as possible , because the major leagues are about to start and because it’s not a comfortable situation for anyone.
“There’s strong interest in Héctor Fort not only from La Liga. Some very big names are also coming in from Italy and England. Inter Milan are looking for a right-back and their priority is England international Djed Spence.
“From England, teams like Everton, Fulham, and even Liverpool have shown interest in the player from Les Corts. The Toffees could present the most attractive offer for all parties.”
Fort is a good player but he won’t get the game time needed at Liverpool
One of the reasons that Araujo was said to be so appealing to Liverpool on loan this summer is that he is excellent as a centre-back and more than capable of doing a job at right back. For the lack of a transfer fee or long-term commitment of any kind, the Uruguayan serves several purposes for Liverpool.

Hector Fort, while being a natural right back, is returning from a serious injury, which is a situation which is true for too many of Liverpool’s players and would represent a greater risk.
If he joined Liverpool rivals Everton, however, he would have a greater chance of playing the kind of minutes his parent club would be happy with.
