Liverpool are thought to be eyeing a move for Barcelona right-back Hector Fort, but a Reds defender may be on his way out.
Liverpool keen on Barcelona defender Hector Fort
According to Sport, Liverpool have “shown interest” in signing Fort from Barca, in order to strengthen their right-back options.
The Reds feel weak in that position currently, with Conor Bradley a long-term injury victim and Jeremie Frimpong not yet fully convincing.
Fort is also wanted by Everton and Fulham, however, and Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals could “present the most attractive proposal” for him.
Still only 20, Fort could be a shrewd right-back option for Andoni Iraola, having made 30 appearances for Barca, and registered five goal contributions on loan at Elche last season.
To some, the Spaniard may be a relative unknown, but he has an impressive four million followers on Instagram, suggesting he is pretty famous!
Any right-back would do for Liverpool at this point, but Fort would be a long-term option with a potentially high ceiling.

Joanna Durkan has had a look at Jarell Quansah‘s situation ahead of the 2026/27 season, with a potential return to Liverpool on the cards in the future:
“As part of his move last summer, Liverpool agreed a buy-back clause which could have seen Quansah rejoin this summer for €80 million (£69.3m), or for €60 million (£52m) in 2027.
“Despite the blatantly obvious need for a defender who could play at centre-back and right-back, which Quansah is more than capable of, Liverpool resisted and instead pursued Ronald Araujo.
“The temporary nature of the Uruguayan’s arrival suggests Quansah could at least be in the club’s thinking for 2027 after another full year of Bundesliga and Europa League action.
“Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni, of course, represent the next iteration of the Reds’ defence, but with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk out of contract next summer, Liverpool need more.”

On this day in 1978, Liverpool signed Alan Kennedy from Newcastle for £330,000.
He went on to become arguably the best left-back in Reds history, vying with Andy Robertson and Steve Nicol for the award.
Kennedy famously scored the only goal in the 1981 European Cup final against Real Madrid, and the winning penalty in the 1984 final shootout win over Roma.
He also won five League titles and four League Cups, during a legendary eight-year stint at Liverpool.
