Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign England youth international striker Vincent Joseph from Liverpool.

The Gunners have agreed terms with the 16-year-old that'll see the teenager swap Merseyside for north London.

Arsenal are still yet to agree a settlement with Liverpool to sign Joseph.

And if the Premier League pair can't come to an agreement, then a tribunal will set a fee for the forward.

Joseph did not sign scholarship terms with Liverpool this summer following the expiration of his schoolboy registration contract.

It means that Joseph had been free to discuss a potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's youth drive

The move for Joseph maintains Arsenal's push to hoover up the brightest young talent English football has to offer.

The Gunners were left disappointed in their pursuit of Jeremy Monga from Leicester City, the teenage winger instead moving to Manchester City to reunite with Enzo Maresca.

However, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old wonderkid Mylo Bernard from Crystal Palace.

Like Joseph, Bernard's schoolboy registration contract expired this summer, meaning he's been free to move elsewhere for a nominal fee.

The Gunners also completed the signing of Elijah Upson, the son of former centre-back Matthew, following his departure from rivals Tottenham.

Upson isn't the first player to depart the Spurs academy this summer.

Manchester United confirmed the arrival of Tynan Thompson from the capital outfit last month.

The winger was one of the club's brightest academy products, but Spurs sanctioned his sale for £8million, £4million of which was paid up front.

Spurs have cashed in on a number of young stars this summer, with Alfie Devine, Will Lankshear and Luka Vuskovic among those to depart.
