With fans fired up for the new Los Angeles Chargers offensive duo of Mike McDaniel and Justin Herbert, the latter could be in line for his best season yet. As Herbert and McDaniel look to revamp the Chargers offense, there is one analyst who agrees with the notion that the quarterback is on track to have a career year.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, former player and analyst Dan Orlovsky said he's the most intrigued by the new pairing of Herbert and McDaniel, saying that an MVP-type season is on the horizon for the 28-year-old.

With McDaniel finding success with such players as Tua Tagovailoa when both were with the Miami Dolphins, Orlovsky claims the sky is the limit with a “freak athlete” like Herbert.

“These quarterbacks that aren't the physically dominant specimen that Justin Herbert is, and now you have this coach that has had to kind of build the offense around that style of player with a quarterback that is made out of a lab, and he is six-foot-six; he is 240 pounds. He has an absolute cannon for an arm, and he's a freak athlete,” Orlovsky said.

"I think Justin Herbert should be in the MVP conversation this year..

The Chargers “compromise” between Justin Herbert and Mike McDaniel

Orlovsky would continue on Herbert and McDaniel and claim that there needs to be a compromise between the two, as Herbert has to excel in the coach's system that is thrived by players to make those ‘touch and layered throws.”

“I think if both of those guys can really get to a little bit of a compromise, but really high level of understanding of, the quarterback's great at this stuff, let's build all of our stuff like that, and then this play caller really needs this out of me. I think this could be one of the better offenses in the league, and the quarterback could be absolutely in the MVP conversation,” Orlovsky said.

At any rate, it remains to be seen if the new offense will pan out, as Week 1 has Los Angeles taking on the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13.
