Tottenham have “formally expressed interest” in signing Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo this summer, according to a Dutch journalist.
Gakpo’s future has been a major talking point, with Spurs continually linked with reuniting him and Andy Robertson, but possibly in a central role.
After a poor 2025/26 season for Liverpool, opinion has been split over whether the Dutchman should be sold, and the player himself is said to be “open” to leaving.
Now, Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof has taken to X to provide a new update, saying Spurs have “formally expressed interest” in Gakpo.

It feels like arguably the most significant development yet in the saga surrounding the 27-year-old, who is contracted at Liverpool until 2030.
Multiple reports have suggested that Gakpo is valued at around £70 million by the Reds.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is Liverpool’s priority wide target, with the two clubs looking to agree a transfer fee.
But he may not be the only addition in that area, with Fabrizio Romano claiming on Thursday that the Reds “could add TWO wingers,” especially if Gakpo departs.
He added that PSG teenager Ibrahima Mbaye is still on Liverpool’s list of options, but is currently considered “too expensive.”

It will now be interesting to see what Gakpo’s involvement is when Liverpool face Como in two friendlies on Sunday.
Barcola and Mbaye were both unused substitutes in PSG’s UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa on Wednesday, suggesting both are on the move.
Should Gakpo play no part this weekend, it would surely be a big hint that he has played his final game for Liverpool.
If he does leave, it cranks up the pressure on the recruitment team to bring in two wingers for Andoni Iraola, with a lack of depth out wide evident.
Victor Munoz will need time to find his feet, and Rio Ngumoha is still a teenager, highlighting the need for more than just Barcola.
Gakpo staying at Liverpool for another season wouldn’t be a bad thing, in terms of depth, but if his mind is made up, it is difficult to begrudge him a new challenge.
