Carlos Mac Allister, the father of Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister, claimed that his son won't be leaving Anfield this summer amid rumors over his future at the club.

The Argentina international was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier in the window, a move his father quashed, before more recent rumors emerged of another exit.

Those links have surrounded a potential move to Manchester City, with the club currently looking at potential replacements for Rodri in the market. It's been claimed that the Premier League outfit is interested in Mac Allister as one of a few options, along with Enzo Fernandez, Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Alex Scott.

However, despite those transfer links with a move to the Etihad Stadium on the cards, Carlos Mac Allister has now put out any discussions of an exit.

Speaking to WinWin, he said: "Alexis will stay at Liverpool, and we have not discussed any possibility of him leaving the club this summer.”

It's a short and sweet statement that clearly rules out another move for the midfielder, although there remain some long-term doubts over his future.

Mac Allister has just two years remaining on his contract at Liverpool, and after a disappointing campaign last time out, it's unclear whether another renewal will be on the cards or not.

That appears to be a problem after the transfer window closes, with an exit not on the cards for the star, meaning some time can be taken for the long-term planning of the roster.

The midfield remains one of the better-stocked areas for Andoni Iraola, who has a trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Florian Wirtz at his disposal through the preseason friendlies so far.

Add to that the return of Mac Allister, as well as the emergence of Trey Nyoni, and it shows the clear quality that the central ranks possess.

If there are to be any exits in midfield, they are more likely to be those now in the final year of their contract with Liverpool that are seeking a new challenge.

Curtis Jones is linked with a transfer to Inter Milan, after the Serie A club already saw two offers rejected for the star, with another expected in the coming days of the market.

Uncertainty still surrounds the future of Harvey Elliott, who made a return from a difficult campaign at Aston Villa, and has just one year left on his own contract.

It sets up an intense few weeks for a few stars, but not for Mac Allister, who is seemingly happy at Liverpool for the time being.
