Fresh reporting on Thursday says those extra seats became available after Manchester City failed to sell their entire allocation.
It could create a striking atmosphere in Cardiff.
Arsenal were originally allocated more than 25,000 tickets for the game, before receiving the substantial additional batch. The Sun reports Arsenal could now have close to 35,000 supporters inside the Principality Stadium on Sunday.
The fixture has moved away from Wembley this year because of concerts being staged at the national stadium, with Cardiff hosting the Community Shield for the first time since 2006.
