Chelsea make firm Enzo Fernandez call if £120m deadline passes

Chelsea will reportedly refuse to consider selling Enzo Fernandez in January if their £120million transfer deadline passes without an acceptable offer on Friday.

The Blues have given Manchester City and any other interested club until 5pm BST on Friday to meet their valuation for the Argentina international.

However, the consequences of that deadline now appear to extend well beyond the end of the current transfer window.

According to the London Standard, Chelsea will not sanction Fernandez’s departure until summer 2027 at the earliest if Friday’s cut-off passes without an acceptable bid.

Chelsea make firm Enzo Fernandez transfer decision

ReadChelsea reported on Wednesday that Chelsea had set a £120m net valuation and given potential buyers until Friday evening to act.

The latest development makes Chelsea’s position even stronger.

Rather than allowing the Fernandez saga to reopen when the January transfer window arrives, the Blues reportedly intend to remove the midfielder from the market altogether if their demands are not met this week.

Manchester City remain firmly interested as they consider potential replacements for Rodri, whose future continues to be linked with Barcelona.

The Guardian reports that Chelsea’s stance is simple: an official £120m bid must arrive before 5pm on Friday or Fernandez stays.

There has also been conflicting reporting over whether City have already submitted an offer.

ReadChelsea covered claims earlier on Thursday that a €120m proposal had been made, although the Standard subsequently reported that Chelsea had not received an official bid at the time of its latest update.

That leaves Manchester City with little time to decide whether they are prepared to test Chelsea’s resolve.

If Friday’s deadline passes without the £120m valuation being met, Fernandez now appears set to remain a major part of Xabi Alonso’s plans not only for the start of this season, but for the entire campaign.
