Alexis Mac Allister will stay at Liverpool, confirms father

Carlos Mac Allister, father and agent of Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, has addressed his son’s future amid growing speculation over a possible move this summer.

Reports have suggested that Mac Allister could leave Liverpool. Manchester City have explored the possibility of signing the Argentina international as a potential replacement for Rodri, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Mac Allister has also been linked with Real Madrid in recent months, with the Spanish giants reportedly considering a future move for the midfielder.

Carlos Mac Allister told WinWin: “Alexis will stay at Liverpool, and we have not discussed any possibility of him leaving the club this summer.”

Carlos Mac Allister’s comments have seemingly ended speculation over any possibility of Alexis Mac Allister leaving Liverpool during the current summer transfer window.

Andoni Iraola has already said he is determined to keep Alexis Mac Allister at Liverpool. He said: “I think Alexis has been one of the best players at the club for the last few years, and he has had a very good World Cup, so it is normal that other clubs want our best players.

“It always happens in other markets. But I want to keep my good players. I’m looking forward more to signing new players rather than losing the ones we have here.”

Mac Allister represented Argentina at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, helping them reach the final before losing 1-0 to Spain. He also played a key role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph in Qatar.

The 27-year-old is under contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2028, having joined the Reds from Brighton in the summer of 2023 for around €42million.

Mac Allister has racked up 150 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 19 goals and providing 20 assists. He is now preparing for the 2026/27 season under head coach Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot. He returned to full training earlier this week.
