Newcastle United’s interest in signing £75m Premier League player confirmed

Newcastle United need to add some ready-made quality to their squad this summer. They cannot expect their wonderkid signings to come in and immediately make an impact.

At the same time, there needs to be a recognition that this is a team that finished 12th in the Premier League last season. Following that, they have lost Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, alongside their manager Eddie Howe.

So, if Newcastle United do not get their transfer business right this summer, there is a genuine possibility that they could end up in a relegation battle. That is not something anybody would want to see.

Hopefully, Newcastle United will be able to make some quality signings before this summer transfer window comes to a close. And there is a positive update regarding that, as it looks like one of the Premier League’s most highly-rated young midfielders is now on their radar.

Newcastle United want one of Premier League’s most hyped talents

According to the DailyMail, Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba is on Newcastle United’s list of transfer targets. Matthias Jaissle is said to be an admirer of the Cameroonian midfielder.

It is not an active transfer deal as the 22-year-old is injured. But Baleba is said to be on the Newcastle United’s radar as they search for replacements for Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

Baleba has drawn comparisons with Moises Caicedo. That is somewhat natural, as he was the last Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder to make a big-money transfer.

There are some stylistic similarities in their games for sure. At the same time, there are those who see a comparison with N’Golo Kante as well. Not bad company to say the very least.

The Manchester United angel

For the past few years, Manchester United have had Baleba on their radar. So far, that has not happened. And Man Utd are believed to be still looking to make another midfield addition this summer.

So, let us wait and watch whether Manchester United end up making a move for him or not. As things stand, it looks like the Magpies are in the mix to sign Baleba.

To be honest, someone like Baleba would be a strong addition to this team and raise the expectations. In the eyes of many, the 25/26 campaign was not his best.

Despite that, there is no doubt about the talent or potential. On top of his game, he can be a positive to almost every team in the Premier League, especially one badly in need of a rebuild.
