Tottenham Hotspur wrapped up three bumper deals early in this summer transfer window, spending a combined £237m on Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. The likes of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have all arrived on free transfers.
The focus in recent weeks has been on moving on the players surplus to head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s requirements. After Manor Solomon departed to West Ham earlier this week, Djed Spence and Cristian Romero appear to be the next in line to leave the club.
Tottenham and Inter Milan have reached a verbal agreement worth €31.5m for Djed Spence. The England international has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A champions. He is set to fly to Italy to undergo his medical ahead of completing a move to Inter Milan. In addition to Spence, another Tottenham full-back has been linked with an exit.
Barcelona make contact with Tottenham star
Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has been linked with a transfer, and the Spanish champions have identified a potential replacement. According to journalist Sebastien Vidal on X, Barcelona has made contact with the entourage of Pedro Porro. The Tottenham right-back will be targeted by the Catalan club in case Kounde departs in the final couple of weeks of the transfer window.
Pedro Porro shone for Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 26-year-old was a crucial member of the Spanish side that won the World Cup in July under Luis De La Fuente. There have been reports of Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal really enjoying playing with the full-back and combining well with him on the right flank at the World Cup.

It is significant to see Barcelona eyeing a player who only recently committed his future to Spurs. The Spanish international signed a new long-term contract until 2031 with an option to extend for another year, with De Zerbi praising the player’s quality, commitment, work ethic and leadership skills.
Having matured and grown as a leader in recent years, Porro has been deemed untouchable by the Spurs gaffer. By penning fresh terms, the 2026 World Cup winner has shown faith in De Zerbi’s project. It demonstrates that the North London club are making necessary changes on and off the pitch to become competitive again in the Premier League, and he wants to be a part of it. And having extended his stay at White Hart Lane, there is absolutely no chance Tottenham will sell the right-back this summer unless a ludicrous offer is tabled by Barcelona.
