The Saints recently hosted several players for tryouts with linebacker Deion Jones emerging as the team’s sole signing.
Beyond shoring up their linebacker depth, New Orleans also explored options for their defensive line, headlined by veteran DeMarcus Walker. The 31-year-old appeared in just one game for the Commanders last year, but across his three prior seasons, he played in every regular season game with 109 tackles, 14.0 sacks, 48 quarterback hits, and 26 tackles for loss.
At 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Walker could line up at multiple spots along the Saints’ defensive front, though he has primarily operated off the edge in recent years. He would reinforce a unit that already lost Bryan Bresee for the season and could be without Cameron Jordan until at least Week 1.
The following players also attended the workout in New Orleans (via ESPN’s Katherine Terrell): linebackers Andre Carter, Keli Lawson, and Baylon Spector; defensive linemen Seth Coleman, Kahlil Saunders, Malakai Williams, and Brien Taylor; and defensive backs Glendon Miller, Wande Owens, and Xavier Williams.
Here are a few more recent training camp tryouts from around the NFL:
The Ravens signed Austin Reed to fill the spot in their quarterback room on Wednesday with Skylar Thompson landing on injured reserve. Reed won the roster spot after a tryout that also featured Trevor Siemian,Jake Haener, and Clayton Tune, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Former Jets cornerback Bryce Hall worked out for the Texans last week, according to KRPC2’s Aaron Wilson. The 28-year-old and 2020 fifth-round pick was a full-time starter during his first two years in New York, but saw significantly reduced playing time in 2022 and 2023. He spent the following two seasons with the Buccaneers and most recently played for the UFL’s Louisville Kings.
The Titans worked out former Rams kicker Joshua Karty on Wednesday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Karty ranked last among qualified kickers with a 66.7% field goal conversion rate last year, but he did hit 85.3% of his kicks in 2024 including six of his seven attempts of at least 50 yards. Tennessee could be considering some competition for veteran Joey Slye, who converted 80.0% of his field goals in 2025, right around his career rate of 81.4%.
