Diego Moreira is yet another story of a former Chelsea player who has gone on to transform himself since leaving Stamford Bridge.
After making just a single appearance for Chelsea in a Carabao Cup match, Diego Moreira made a permanent move to French side Strasbourg in August 2024 for around £1.75m million.
Since leaving London, the 22-year-old has completely revitalized his career, transforming into a versatile player who can play at wing-back or out wide.
He has tallied 7 goals and 13 assists across more than 70 appearances for Strasbourg. And his standout club performances even helped him earn a call-up to represent Belgium at the 2026 World Cup.

Diego Moreira agrees a move to RB Leipzig
According to Florian Plettenberg, RB Leipzig and Diego Moreira have reached a verbal agreement over an immediate move, with a contract until 2031.
The winger is currently RB’s top priority to replace Yan Diomande, who moved to Real Madrid.
The clubs are in contact, but no active negotiations yet. Strasbourg are asking for €60-70m (£50m-£60m), which RB Leipzig are not willing to pay.
Selling Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah before they became superstars remains Chelsea’s biggest blunder. And letting Jamal Musiala and Declan Rice slip through their academy compounds those regrets.
