Browns trade proposal forgets Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson for recent first-rounder

It's not crazy to say that, while the Cleveland Browns are in the middle of their own quarterback problems, they could look to another team facing similar issues to improve their quarterback room.

Right now, it doesn't feel like Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson deserves a starting job in the NFL. The Browns have been in quarterback purgatory for quite some time now, so taking a chance on another player really might not be the worst idea. The only question for the Browns is who they want to bring in, as there aren't many good quarterbacks available at this stage of the year.

One recent trade idea would see the Browns get very creative, trading for Michael Penix, the Atlanta Falcons' first-round pick who is in a quarterback battle with former Miami Dolphins star Tua Tagovailoa. The trade would only move two draft picks for the Browns.

β€œAt this point, why not take the shot if you're the Browns? Sure, things haven't gone swimmingly for Penix at all, and he's got a ton of injury risk, but he was also a top-eight pick just two years ago. He's only 26 years old, and again, he should be an upgrade over what they have. Even if he flames out in Cleveland or can't stay healthy, this kind of trade package wouldn't be an example of the Browns giving up all that much β€” especially since they have three fourth-round selections and two seventh-round picks in next year's NFL Draft,” Zachary Rotman wrote.

I get the idea here for Cleveland, and it probably isn't a terrible one to try to get a player like Penix who has some tools.

However, at this point, it feels a lot better to actually find a franchise quarterback who can come in and make a difference for Cleveland.

The Browns have been searching for one for a very long time now, and unfortunately, Penix doesn't really solve that.
