There have been numerous developments on the transfer front for Liverpool, with their pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola continuing. The European champions are believed to be demanding approximately $195.7 million for the French international.

Liverpool is attempting to secure a more favourable price. The prospect of paying a club-record fee, surpassing the $168.7 million paid for Alexander Isak last summer, could prompt them to explore alternative targets.

The Anfield outfit have also been connected with a potential move for PSG's 18 year old winger Ibrahim Mbaye as they seek to bolster their wide options. The most recent reports provide two important updates concerning both players, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Bradley Barcola update

In a positive sign for the Reds, PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi has refused to dismiss the possibility of Bradley Barcola leaving the club this summer.

After PSG's 2-1 triumph over Aston Villa in Salzburg in the UEFA Super Cup final, a fixture in which Barcola sat on the bench for the entire 90 minutes, the club's president informed beinSPORTS: "We're working calmly. We don't talk too much, we do. I can't say whether he will leave or not. Today, he is a PSG player. We'll see!".

PSG manager Luis Enrique similarly avoided committing himself before the match in Austria. "I don't know and I don't want to speak about any player individually," he responded when questioned about the 23-year-old's future at the Parc des Princes.

"Because it's always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player. I stay focused on my team."

Barcola made the switch to PSG from Lyon in 2023 for £38.5m. He has secured three Ligue 1 titles, lifted the French Cup on two occasions, claimed two Champions Leagues, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Ibrahim Mbaye transfer 'off'

Liverpool have stepped back from their interest in Mbaye after learning that a combined deal to secure both him and Barcola at Anfield could total £171m, according to reports.

Mbaye is capable of operating on both wings, though regular first-team opportunities in the French capital have remained limited due to Enrique's tendency to favour Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué and Barcola. He also remained on the bench throughout the Super Cup triumph over Villa.

Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Liverpool have now pulled out of a prospective transfer following talks with Mbaye's agent, Jorge Mendes. PSG are believed to have placed a price tag on Mbaye ranging from £34m to £42m, an amount the Merseysiders allegedly deem inflated.

Liverpool are believed to be pursuing two new wide players during this window. Left-sided forward Cody Gakpo has been associated with a move to Tottenham, which could significantly influence the rest of Liverpool's summer recruitment business.
