'Untouchable' - Fabrizio Romano delivers update on Liverpool's Nigeria-eligible forward

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Super Eagles-eligible winger Rio Ngumoha, revealing that Liverpool have no intention of allowing the teenager to leave the club this summer.

The 17-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, scoring the winning goal on his Premier League debut as Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 3-2 at St James’ Park.

He went on to make 19 league appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist despite Liverpool’s underwhelming campaign.

Ngumoha’s impressive displays have attracted interest from several top European clubs, with Bayern Munich reportedly among those monitoring his situation.

However, Romano insists Liverpool view the youngster as a crucial part of their present and future plans, even as the club looks to strengthen its wing options before the end of the transfer window.

Providing an update on his future, Romano revealed that Liverpool are still looking to add two wingers to their squad, particularly if Cody Gakpo completes his proposed move to Tottenham.

However, the transfer expert stressed that Ngumoha remains untouchable, with the teenager considered a key part of Liverpool’s present and long-term plans.

“Something regarding Liverpool about Rio Ngumoha,” Romano said on the YouTube channel.

“Should anything happen, Barcola or no Barcola, as I told you, the intention for Liverpool is to add two wingers to the squad, especially if Gakpo goes to Tottenham. In any case, Rio Ngumoha is untouchable.”

He also dismissed reports linking Ngumoha with a move to Bayern, underlining Liverpool’s determination to keep the Nigeria-eligible forward as they plan for the future.

“Ngumoha was never close to joining Bayern this summer. Rio for Liverpool is an absolutely crucial part of the present and future project, so forget about Ngumoha,” he concluded.

Despite making his senior England debut ahead of the World Cup, the youngster remains eligible to represent Nigeria at senior international level.

With just a few weeks remaining before the transfer window closes, Ngumoha will be keen to secure clarity over his future and build on his impressive breakthrough at Liverpool.
