PL Giants Receive Major Boost in Pursuit of Top Striker

Arsenal are the reigning Premier League champions. They look to be in good stead ahead of the 2026/27 season, but there is still room for improvement within the squad.

In this particular instance, head coach Mikel Arteta is looking to improve their quality up front. With Gabriel Jesus angling for a move away from the club, a new striker on their books wouldn’t go amiss.

To this end, the Gunners have identified Victor Osimhen as a potential target. One of the best strikers in the world, the Nigerian international could transform their attacking ranks into something truly formidable.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the Galatasaray star in the last few days – now, their chances of signing him have been significantly bolstered.

According to a recent report from The Standard, one of his other suitors, Al-Hilal, have seen a bid of £111 million rejected by the Turkish giants.

Still, Arsenal are mindful of the finances at hand here. If Al-Hilal can beat them to the punch, they’ll instead turn their attention to former Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.

As well as this, Arsenal are not the only interested party, with Manchester United and bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur also in the mix.

Furthermore, according to Football365 back in May, Osimhen was Xabi Alonso’s ‘top target’ ahead of the summer transfer window. However, nothing has surfaced regarding the Blues’ interest since this.

On top of this, TransferFeed claims that a number of top European clubs are interested in signing the 27-year-old, including Barcelona, PSG and Real Madrid.

As we can see, competition for Osimhen’s signature is fierce. Arsenal can take solace in Galatasaray’s rejection of Al-Hilal’s offer, but they still have plenty of work to do if they want to secure his signature before the window slams shut on September 1.

What would Victor Osimhen bring to Arsenal?

A fast, powerful striker with excellent finishing ability, Osimhen is very reminiscent of a prime Romelu Lukaku. His goalscoring record, especially in the Champions League, speaks for itself. Can he replicate such a tally in the Premier League?

Capable of bursting through the lines and creating space for himself in the area to rattle off shots, Osimhen is a very dangerous forward who can be very difficult to deal with on account of his physicality and killer instinct.

He isn’t without his weaknesses, though. He isn’t known for his link play, preferring to play exclusively off the shoulder of the last man. He does hold the ball up very well, though. Additionally, standing at 6ft 1 and possessing a strong frame, he’s also very effective in the air.

To this end, he also gets caught offside far more often than he should, according to his WhoScored profile. For a player who likes to latch onto through balls, this could be a problem.
