Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Love has yet to play a regular season snap, but the rookie already has one of the brightest spotlights in football. The Arizona Cardinals gave him the most guaranteed money of any running back in NFL history when they selected him with the third-overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and it’s easy to see why. The Notre Dame product dominated at the collegiate level, routinely flashing his elite athleticism and ability to make plays both as a runner and a returner. In theory, he has the talent to be a true three-down workhorse like Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson and Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, Jeremiyah Love suffered an ankle injury during his first real taste of NFL action. The running back suffered an ankle injury midway through the contest but, fortunately, this doesn’t appear to be anything more than a minor scare. According to reports after the game, Love could have returned if needed, and this ankle injury won’t keep him sidelined for the regular season.
Jeremiyah Love Injury Update: Cardinals RB Fine After Ankle Injury Scare
For what it’s worth, Jeremiyah Love looked good prior to his ankle injury. Playing early in the contest, the rookie finished the game with 11 carries for 58 yards, but he did not record a reception. It was a good night for the offense as a whole, as the team won 27-14 while quarterbacks Gardner Minshew, Kedon Slovis, and Jacoby Brissett combined to complete 26 of their 30 collective pass attempts.
Jeremiyah Love will be a star in this league, but this ankle injury may encourage the Cardinals to take it slow with him for the rest of the preseason. While he is a rookie, he’s remarkably talented and probably shouldn’t take any more unnecessary punishment if he’s already up to speed in the offense. When the regular season begins, he and veteran Tyler Allgeier will likely start the season as a two-headed committee, but Love should take over as the full-time starter before long.
