Arsenal could reportedly divert their attention away from Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

That’s because Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah has emerged as a target for Mikel Arteta, according to Sky Sports.

The England international, who left Liverpool in July last year, can play at both centre-back and right-back, just like Villa’s Konsa.

Arsenal’s valuation of Konsa is thought to be far below Villa’s price tag of around £60 million, which may have led them to pursue other targets.

Quansah, meanwhile, cost Leverkusen around £30 million last summer, and the Bundesliga side are said to want significantly more than they paid for him.

Konsa, who has two years remaining on his Villa contract, still lives in London but will turn 29 in October, while Quansah could be viewed as a better long-term investment for Arsenal.

He turned 23 at the start of the year and has made 118 senior appearances, with 44 of them coming for Leverkusen last term.

Villa have already lost three key players this summer, with Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne and Youri Tielemans all departing.

So far this summer, Villa have signed Johan Manzambi, Alejandro Garnacho and Joao Gomes.

Matteo Ruggeri is expected to complete his move from Atletico Madrid shortly.
