Liverpool could make transfer U-turn on €70m-rated midfielder

Ibrahima Konate, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have already left Liverpool this summer and a few more could follow them out the door at Anfield.

Andoni Iraola is aiming to stamp his authority on his squad and the coming weeks could see a lot of transfer movement, in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Curtis Jones is wanted by Inter Milan, who are expected to make a move for him after selling Davide Frattesi to Lazio.

Alexis Mac Allister, on the other hand, has been linked with a host of clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester City and Galatasaray.

We reported on Read Liverpool that Mac Allister is valued at around €70m if he is to be sold this summer.

And yesterday, Mac Allister’s father confirmed that the Argentine is going nowhere this summer, with Liverpool’s stance also the same.

But now, The Athletic seem to suggest the former Brighton man could be sold later in the summer.

Liverpool could sell Alexis Mac Allister

An excerpt from their article reads: “Liverpool are waiting for Inter’s next move for Curtis Jones, so letting another first-team midfielder like Mac Allister go this summer is not part of their immediate plans.

“However, Liverpool could change their stance if a serious offer came in. There is none on the table, but a midfield merry-go-round could begin if Rodri moves to Spain, potentially bringing Mac Allister into the picture.

🚨 Carlos Mac Allister says his son will stay at Liverpool!

“Alexis will stay at Liverpool, and we have not discussed any possibility of him leaving the club this summer.”

“Liverpool prioritised contract extensions for Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, while Mac Allister has two years left on his deal and will be 28 in December.

“Despite this summer being an ideal time to extract maximum value, finding a replacement at this stage makes a move unlikely.”

Judging by the reporting, Liverpool do not want to sell the 27-year-old and won’t do so unless they receive an absolutely monstrous offer.

Our opinion: It’s too late to think about selling and replacing a player of Mac Allister’s quality, especially with Jones set to leave.

We think he will stay and either move on next year or sign a contract extension between now and the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
