Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento is a doubt for the opening game of the Premier League season against Liverpool.
The 23-year-old has missed all of pre-season after picking up a calf injury that forced him to withdraw from England’s World Cup squad ahead of the tournament.
It was another cruel blow for Livramento, who has endured an injury-hit 2026 so far, starting just three competitive games for the Magpies since the turn of the year.

But the defender has now teased his return to action with a social media post on Instagram. Having previously shared images of himself working in a gym in the United States, Livramento posted the images once again, only this time with a telling caption.
The full-back used the ‘hourglass emoji’ suggesting his return to action is getting close.
He is one of several Newcastle stars currently nursing an injury ahead of the start of the new season. This weekend, Newcastle host Bayer Leverkusen and Strasbourg at St James’ Park in their final two friendly matches on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
It comes just a week before the Premier League opener against Liverpool on August 23.
Lewis Miley is still recovering from a broken fibula suffered during the back end of last season but is back on the grass.
Fabian Schar picked up a groin injury during the 1-1 draw at Gateshead last month but hasn’t been seen in action since. Like Miley, he travelled over to Spain but trained individually at La Manga last week.
Providing a squad injury update, Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle said: “[Schar] is on the way back now. Hopefully, in the next days he will be included in the team training, and then we need to see if he gets some minutes already at the weekend.”
“Like with Fabian, we're hoping that in the next few days, [Miley] can be in the team sessions integrated, um, and hopefully, also he will get some minutes then.”
Elsewhere in the squad, Newcastle welcomed Dan Burn back from his World Cup break with the defender set to be involved this weekend against either Strasbourg or Bayer Leverkusen.
Goalkeepers Nick Pope and Ewen Jaouen also weren’t involved against Everton or Valencia. Pope has been sidelined, having been made available to leave the club before the end of the transfer window, while The Gazette understands Jaouen is unavailable due to a back issue.
