Chelsea receive surprise Liam Delap approach as striker exit gathers pace
Como have made an initial approach for Liam Delap as the Serie A club consider a move for the Chelsea striker during the final weeks of the transfer window.
The 23-year-old has emerged high on Como’s shortlist as they search for another centre-forward, with Chelsea prepared to allow Delap to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Como have now made their first approach for the England striker.
Romano adds that relations between Como and Chelsea are particularly strong following the recent Trevoh Chalobah deal, potentially helping discussions if the Italian club decide to step up their pursuit.

Como make move for Liam Delap
Delap’s Chelsea future has been uncertain for several weeks as Xabi Alonso reshapes his attacking options.
Romano previously reported that both Delap and Emmanuel Emegha were no longer considered untouchable, with Chelsea willing to consider suitable proposals.
ReadChelsea also reported last month that Chelsea were prepared to listen to offers for Delap as competition increased within Alonso’s forward line.
Como’s approach therefore represents an important progression.
Rather than Premier League clubs merely monitoring Delap’s availability, Chelsea now have a potential route to Italy during the closing stages of the window.
The relationship between the clubs could also prove significant. Como pursued Chalobah throughout the summer, with ReadChelsea previously covering the lengthy negotiations between the two sides over the defender.
Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town for £30million in 2025 and remains under contract until 2031.
No bid or agreement with Como has been reported at this stage, and the approach remains at an initial stage.
However, with Delap available and Como actively searching for a striker, the situation could develop quickly during the final two weeks of the window.
